Anyone else write longhand first? by novalit99

I go through about one A5 notebook every three weeks. Poetry almost always starts on paper. Fan fiction too, first scenes especially, though I move to the keyboard for anything long. I think it's the slowing down. When I type I can outrun the thought and end up with words that are technically correct but hollow. With a pen I can't go faster than I'm thinking. The sentences have to be more decided before they exist. My uni friends think this is extremely extra. They draft everything in docs. But I've tried it and the paper drafts are better, at least to start. The keyboard stuff is for editing. Do you write longhand? Did you ever and stop? I'm curious whether anyone came to it late.
