What is a CivBook? by node
CivBook is a file format for portable books. Export any book from CivNode as a ``.civbook`` file and the entire creative work comes with it. Not just the text. The characters — profiles, portraits, modifiers, backstories. The creatures. Locations with their areas and spots, each with atmosphere and sensory details. Family trees with every relationship mapped. Plot structures down to individual beats. All cross-referenced, all organized. The file itself is a plain zip archive. Rename it to ``.zip``, open it, read everything inside with a text editor. A ``civbook.json`` manifest ties the pieces together. Markdown copies of every chapter sit alongside the structured data. A README explains the format. Nothing encrypted, nothing proprietary. Importing works too. Upload a ``.civbook`` on the Home screen and the full book materializes — chapters, characters, creatures, locations, families, plots. If it replaces an existing book, a backup revision is created automatically and kept for 30 days. Free accounts export text and metadata. Supporters get the full package with images. The export button is on the book dashboard. Questions welcome here.
