Your CivPage by node
Every person on CivNode gets one CivPage. One page. That is the core idea. Visitors encounter CivPages at random. No algorithm decides who gets seen more. No ranking system. No likes or view counts that push popular content to the top. Someone clicks "encounter a CivPage" and gets yours, or someone else's, with equal probability. ## Writing your CivPage Go to your profile and click "Edit CivPage." The editor is a full writing environment — you can format text, add headings, insert images, and use all the tools available in the regular editor. Your CivPage can be anything: a short story, a poem, an essay, a chapter from something longer, a letter to no one in particular, a manifesto, a recipe, a list of things you believe. The only requirement is that it follows the community guidelines (no harassment, no illegal content, no spam). There is no word limit in the strict sense, but CivPages are meant to be encountered. Someone will read yours from beginning to end in a single sitting. Writing that rewards a single read tends to be somewhere between 200 and 5,000 words, though shorter and longer both work if the writing holds. ## The 24-hour edit lock After you publish or edit your CivPage, it locks for 24 hours. You cannot change it during this time. This is intentional. It encourages you to be deliberate about what you publish. Read it once more before you save. Sleep on it if you can. After 24 hours, you can edit again. The lock resets each time you save. ## Visual customization You can customize how your CivPage looks to visitors: - Background color or theme - Typography choices - Section dividers between parts - Header image or accent elements These are aesthetic choices. They affect how your CivPage feels to read but don't affect its position in the rotation. ## Resonance When someone encounters your CivPage, they can leave a resonance — a brief, private reaction. You will see how many people resonated with your writing, but not who they are. There is no public count. No leaderboard. Resonance is between the reader and the writer, quiet and genuine. You can also resonate with CivPages you encounter. Think of it as a nod across a room.
